duties and discharge from bankruptcy

Posted on Tuesday, March 06, 2007

I filed for bankruptcy in 2003 and have only completed half of my duties. I still owe my fees and have one counselling session left to full fill my duties. I have only received one letter from my trustee reminding me that i must complete my duties before i am discharged. how can i finish this bankruptcy and will there be a penalty charged? can i still finish that bankruptcy? I filed when I was single before I met my current husband this shouldnt affect him as we didnt know one another at that time.
I have had a rough time trying to live in Alberta and I am playing catch up.. is it too late for me? I am scared because I am so far behind. please tell me how to rectify this.
thanks

The best thing to do is to contact your trustee, explain the situation and make sure you make arrangements with the trustee’s office to continue working at completing these obligations. The trustee’s office has a little discretion and if hey are informed and know you are making progress they are less likely to anything drastic.
