Question: Are RRSP’s protected if I go bankrupt??
Answer: The Civil Enforcement Act of Alberta was amended effective October 1, 2009 to include protection for RRSP’s and under a bankruptcy scenario RRSP’s are generally now considered as being exempt from seizure. Section 67 of the federal Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act allows each province to set its own bankruptcy exemptions.
From an exemption point of view Alberta is one of the best provinces in which to go bankrupt.

In Alberta your RRSP's are considered an exempt asset under the Civil Enforcemnt Legislation. So this means that if a bankruptcy is filed, you would not loose these registered investments.
